The fog settles across the continent. Prepare your scouts.
Update 0.2: The Fog of War
A throne cannot be built upon ignorance, nor can an empire survive in the dark. Know your borders, guard your minds, and watch the shadows closely
Greetings, Commanders.
As the war for the Veyrlands intensifies, we are shifting the scales of power. In Update 0.2, we are introducing core mechanics to heighten strategic tension, overhauling our intellectual pursuits, and ensuring that those new to our realm are properly conditioned for the betrayals ahead.
The Foundation of Knowledge
Previously, landless rulers could still miraculously conduct grand academic research. No longer. Intellectual progress requires structure, safety, and infrastructure. Research production is now strictly tied to City ownership. If your last city falls, your progress freezes until you reclaim your seat of power.
Designer Insight: We want to prevent "ghost kingdoms"—players who have lost all physical presence on the map but continue to tech up safely from the sidelines. True power requires a crown, and a crown requires a throne.
The Path of the Ruler
To ensure the next generation of tacticians can properly compete, we are introducing a dynamic, Guided Game onboarding system. Upon account creation, you will now select your Knowledge Level, which tailors your initial experience:
The Shroud of the Unexplored
Previously, the complete lack of visual boundaries led desperate rulers to send scouts blindly into the infinite abyss at the edge of the world. By cloaking unseen tiles in clouds, we are giving you a clear visual indicator of where the known world ends, allowing you to deploy your scouts with true strategic intent rather than reckless guesswork.
Added: We now show clouds over tiles not yet seen by the player
Academic Clarity (Research Screen Overhaul)
Our scholars have reorganized the archives. The previous Research Screen was a tangled web of overlapping lines, making it incredibly difficult to plot a clean technological path.
